Ideal for splitting logs and fire wood
Our Green Jem fibre shafted Maul (Also know as a Log Splitter) with a 6lb head is designed with an ergonomic rubber grip to help minimise shock absorption. The Maul is well-weighted and makes it perfect for splitting logs and fire wood, even for long durations due to the exceptional balance and long grip handle. This in turn allows any operative the ability to use it regardless of height or hand spacing requirements. This 6lb Maul comes in two tone colours of orange and black making it easy to see in these high visibility colours especially if working out in the woodlands.
Which tool is right for you?
A Maul is used for splitting wood. It is designed to divide a piece of wood in two by forcing the wood fibres apart parallel to the grain. The dull edge exploits a crack between fibres, and the V-shaped head forces the crack apart with continuous pressure.
Whereas an axe is for chopping wood. It is designed to cut its way across wood fibres. In a single swing of the axe, the sharp bit slices into the wood, followed by the thin blade slipping in to cut deeply across the fibres, followed by the eye of the axe head – the fat part surrounding the handle – separating the wood and popping out the resulting wood chip.
